The Bill [ Series: The Bill ]
Excitement in Sun Hill: a new uniform sergeant has arrived. Sergeant Rachel Weston is not to be trifled with: we know this because she wears her hair in a severe bun that looks like the inside of an artichoke, says her lines quickly and doesn't smile. And we know she's a major character because she's played by one-time men's mag siren Claire Goose, late of Waking the Dead and Casualty. She fits right in, though her first case is a tough one. "First off, a man and a woman pull off an armed robbery and then they leave a 12-year-old runaway in the back of the getaway van," Kezia sums up usefully. The story's a slow burn, but becomes a satisfying human puzzle in which recent arrival PC Mel Ryder has to follow her instincts. Look out, too, for a deliciously cheesy final shot.
